Introducing Fractional Shares Trading
in Canadian Stocks
and ETFs

Interactive Brokers recently expanded fractional shares trading to Canadian stocks and ETFs listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and on CBOE Canada.

Fractional shares give investors a simple way to build a balanced portfolio and invest in shares regardless of the share price. With fractional shares, investors can divide investments among more stocks to achieve a better-diversified portfolio and put small cash balances to work quickly to maximize potential returns.

To trade eligible Canadian fractional shares, clients can use a cash quantity order that lets clients place orders in a specific cash amount. Fractional shares will automatically be bought or sold if the cash amount does not line up with a whole number of shares.

Click Trading Permissions
Under Stocks, click "Add" and then "Global (Trade in Fractions)"
Click Continue to enable

Once enabled, you can trade fractional shares from our IBKR Mobile, IBKR GlobalTrader, IMPACT App, Client Portal, IBKR Desktop or Trader Workstation (TWS) trading platforms. When placing an order, simply tap or click the quantity field to show the size wand, use the toggle to switch between dollars or fractional share quantity and enter the quantity for your order.

IBKR Clients Earn Up to 4.83% on Instantly Available USD Cash Balances

As an Interactive Brokers client, you are likely aware that client accounts receive credit interest on positive settled cash balances.¹ After increases in interest rates by the US Federal Reserve, Interactive Brokers now pays up to 4.83% on positive settled USD cash balances.²

Accounts with a Net Asset Value (NAV) of USD 100,000 (or equivalent) or more are paid interest at the full rate for which they are eligible. Accounts with NAV of less than USD 100,000 (or equivalent) receive interest at rates proportional to the size of the account.

For example, an account with a NAV of USD 50,000 earns credit interest at a rate equal to one-half the rate paid by IBKR to accounts with a NAV of USD 100,000 or more.

Fundamentals Explorer Now Includes a Securities Lending Dashboard

Use daily short sale data on thousands of securities worldwide to generate trade ideas, gauge short sentiment and evaluate your portfolio from a different angle.

The Securities Lending Dashboard lets clients evaluate short trades by accessing key securities lending metrics. Investors can access real-time metrics such as Utilization, Shares on Loan and Short Interest Indicators to gauge borrowing demand in a name, which may reflect market sentiment. They can also leverage historical data to view recent trends and compare activity across two tickers.

Trend Metrics include:

Utilization: The total quantity of the security on loan divided by the total inventory of the security. Expressed as percentage.
Lender Depth: A scale to indicate the number of lenders with an outstanding borrow in the name. 1: 0-5 lenders, 2: 6-10 lenders, 3: 11 or more lenders.
Average Duration: The volume weighted average duration of all open loans in the security based on Trade Date, expressed in calendar days.
Borrow Depth: A scale to indicate the number of borrowers with an outstanding borrow in the name. 1: 0-5 borrowers, 2: 6-10 borrowers, 3: 11 or more borrowers.

Days to Cover: for equity securities, the number of shares on loan in the security for the business date divided by the 30-day average daily trading volume in the cash market.
On Loan Quantity: Total quantity of the security on loan.
On Loan Value: Total value (USD) of the security on loan.
Short Interest Indicator: For equity securities, the number of shares on loan divided by the total number of shares in the public float, expressed as a percentage. For fixed income securities, the size on loan divided by the issuance size, expressed as a percentage.

Docusign for Multiple Applications

Earlier this year, we integrated Docusign into the semi-electronic application process and made it available for all advisors with clients from eligible countries. We recently expanded our integration with Docusign so that advisors can now send multiple individual, joint and retirement account applications to a client in a single Docusign package. US Advisors

The Employee Plan Administrator account lets advisors offer self-employed individuals and companies of less than 100 employees a Savings Investment Match Plan for Employees Individual Retirement Account (SIMPLE IRA).

Once the Employee Plan Administrator account is opened by a client and then associated with an advisor on the IBKR platform, up to 100 employees can be invited to open SIMPLE IRA accounts. The deposits/contributions to SIMPLE IRA accounts are managed under a single login and the advisor manages the SIMPLE IRAs. Trading and broker transfers are not permitted.

Employee Plan Administrators must be located in the United States.

SIMPLE IRA accounts are available for individual US citizens living anywhere and US resident aliens who are clients of a financial advisor.

Client Management Programs
for Advisors are Going Global

We completed the roll out of our reconfigured and enhanced client management models for US advisors and have begun rolling out the services to advisors around the world.

Our enhanced client management model offers improvements such as:

Operational Control: These new models allow you to complete various tasks, such as funding requests and information changes, on behalf of your clients. Depending on the program, IBKR will accept the changes or once entered by the advisor, clients will use a simplified process to approve, sign and confirm your action.
Enhanced Dashboard: We have enhanced the Client Pending Items tab (formerly Pending Items) on our Dashboard. This tab will show you all pending tasks for your clients and either allow you, as the advisor, to complete the task on behalf of the client or send an automated email asking your client to address the task.
Improved Messaging: We have redesigned our Sub Account Messages tab and streamlined communications from IBKR by aggregating, categorizing and routing messages to the advisor to avoid unnecessary client contact.

We offer three client management models with customizable participation levels:

Streamlined simplifies the process by which clients approve funding requests, sign agreements and confirm changes and instructions entered by their advisor. Advisors can customize specific features, and communications from IBKR are aggregated, categorized and routed to the advisor to avoid unnecessary client contact. Once you enroll, all clients are automatically enrolled.
Streamlined Plus allows advisors to perform certain administrative tasks on behalf of their clients. Once you are approved for participation, clients will automatically be enrolled during the application process with the same advisor authorizations applying to all.
Full-Service clients enroll individually and choose the powers they wish to grant their advisor, which can include moving funds or assets on their behalf and performing a broad range of administrative tasks.

Advisors will be presented with eligible programs on the enrollment screen, which can be found in the Advisor Authorizations screen on the Settings page in Advisor Portal.

IBKR Trader Workstation (TWS)

Tax Loss Harvesting for Traders: We are pleased to introduce our Tax Loss Harvest tool to our retail traders. Traders can use this tool to realize the tax benefits of both long- and short-term capital losses more easily.

To open the tool, right-click a position and select Tax Loss Harvest. To use Multi-Stock harvesting, open the Classic Layout and from the Portfolio page click Tax Loss Harvesting in the top right of the Portfolio page.

NOTE: Multi-Stock TLH is currently available only in the Beta build of TWS.

Tell Us What You Want: We are pleased to announce the new Feature Suggestion tool in TWS. Now you can easily let us know what features you would like to see added to our platforms and vote on features suggested by others.

Futures Roll Builder: We streamlined the multi-step process of rolling a futures position (i.e., closing one position and opening a new one in the same contract but with a more distant expiration) into a simple flow using the new Futures Roll feature.

Client Portal

Redesigned News & Research tool: A completely re-imagined News & Research interface has been released to Client Portal and will soon be available across all IBKR trading platforms. This new interface allows you to create custom feed views of the news you want to read, in the layout style that you prefer.

To access this new layout, from the Research menu select News & Research. This new presentation is easy to navigate and provides a clean, modern interface.
Overnight Trading: Capture market opportunities anytime with Overnight Trading. All clients with US Stock trading permission will have access to US Overnight Trading. To use this feature, in the Order Ticket select Overnight from the Time in Force list.

Orbisa Securities Lending Analytics Dashboard: Now get access to the same valuable short securities lending data for US equities historically available only to banks, broker-dealers and institutional investors. The Orbisa Securities Lending Analytics Dashboard in Fundamentals Explorer gives you professional-level access to key metrics and data to see when borrowing demand is increasing or decreasing so you're better able to gauge in which direction market sentiment is trending.
QR Code Login Support: Users who use two-factor authentication via IB Key can now log in using a QR code in cases where the IB Key notification is not received. To use, click "Log in with QR Code" directly below the "Resend notification" link in Client Portal.
Trailing orders: Client Portal now supports Trailing Stop and Trailing Stop Limit orders.

Enhancements for Advisors

In addition, we have introduced several enhancements for Advisors.

Trader Workstation (TWS)

The Allocation Order Tool now supports options combos.
Advisors can now choose between "Static" and "Dynamic" methods of applying allocations across models. Static allocation applies the initial percentages to all new investments, while Dynamic allocations apply the new percentages that result from price changes.
Multi-Stock Tax Loss Harvesting: Updates to the Tax Loss Harvesting tool allow advisors to take advantage of potential losses across client accounts and multiples securities. Previously the tool showed potential losses for a single stock at a time.
Advisors can now have the order quantity for an Account Group calculated as a percent of their position for groups with "User-Specified" allocation methods. Account Groups automatically calculate ratios and allocate shares to a pre-defined group of accounts based on a selected allocation method.

Advisor Portal

We redesigned the Advisor Portal Order Ticket to support Advisor Allocations. Other updates include using a horizontal instead of a vertical layout which adapts better to different screen sizes. The new layout also helps users avoid having to scroll up and down to find fields as they create an order. The vertical orientation is still available from the “Quick” order ticket that displays on the right side of the Client Portal interface.

Getting Started with TWS for Advisors
We have divided this course in two to address both trading and CRM. This course deals with an introduction to Trader Workstation (TWS) for Advisors where you will learn how to navigate TWS, monitor your clients' and your firm's aggregate positions. We show you how to trade for an individual client and for several (or all) clients at a time. And we introduce the Order Allocation Tool, which really gets to the heart of order management. You will learn to build Model Portfolios, how to allocate clients' money to a Model as well as how to rebalance a portfolio. We also show you how to navigate the Tax Harvester Tool enabling you to run your individual client's portfolio efficiently.

Client Portal enables you to stay connected with key features and services inside your IBKR account. Client Portal not only provides users with access to account details, statements and reports, but also allows you to monitor global markets, build watchlists and scanners and trade using a single log in.
Overnight Trading
Trading outside of regular trading hours can be performed on each of IB's trading platforms, TWS, Mobile TWS and Client Portal. This course explains how to create orders designed to execute beyond regular US trading hours. In addition, both CME and Cboe Global Markets offer around-the-clock access to futures options and options markets, respectively. Each lesson walks the user though examples of accessing those markets.
